After several years helping out as lead designer of Fluxus’s popular women’s knitwear line, Project Runway winner, Jeffrey Sebelia, has left the company to start an edgy kids line called La Miniatura.
“He’s like another Vivienne Westwood,” said Runway’s Tim Gunn in People magazine, “he’s adept at taking what’s happening on the street and making it into fashion with a capital F.” Sebelia thinks that instinct will translate from his adult lines at Cosa Nostra and Fluxus to the kids world with La Miniatura.
Jeffrey’s young son Harrison inspired The trademark tattoo on his neck that reads “Harrison Detroit l’amore de la mia vita” which translates to “Harrison Detroit is the love of my life” in Italian, and he continues to inspire the designer. In response to the drab state of boys clothes today “I just want my kid to be able to dress with some dignity!” says sebelia.
From early-on his designs have always been inspired by art and
rock ’n’ roll. With clients from Elton John, Gwen Stefani Madonna and Jennifer Lopez to Dave Navarro, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and Tommy Lee, Sebelia has designed the new boys line to reflect that same aesthetic.
